The Waterfront Inn - Guest Book

Here is what some people that have stayed with us or eaten in our brasserie have said about The Waterfront Inn. You can add your own comments on our Guest Book page.

"While staying with friends in Cowes we came to Shanklin on the bus. We had a little dog with us but were anxious about stopping somewhere for lunch. We noticed the sign outside The Waterfront Inn saying dogs were welcome. We went in and couldn't have had a warmer reception from Lee at the bar. He found us comfortable seats and were quickly served with drinks and then our choice for a lunch snack. There was a superb talented pianist playing quiet smooth music with a jazz feel. We found The Waterfront to be a delightful place to stop for a comfortable break and would recommend it to anyone going to The Isle of Wight."

"We stayed with you in july and we enjoyed ourselves very much, it was very relaxing and we both had time to do what we wanted to do such as fishing and reading a book. The food was good and they looked after me as i had to be careful with what food i had. The bedroom was relaxing and clean. The group of young people that they had to work with them worked well as a team and we hope that they will be around next year. Happy christmas and a Happy new year to all of you."

"A celebratory Family Meal for 10 was held at The Waterfront Inn on 22nd October 2011. The 2-course meal was absolutely delicious, presented in a beautifully, creative fashion. It was served by courteous, friendly staff. Excellent value for money. We would strongly recommend the Waterfront Inn to other people."
(The Heyburn Family, 23 Oct 2011)

"I spent a week here recently and although Catherine and David are part of my family, I feel I must recommend this as an excellent place to stay if you want to visit the Isle of Wight. The hotel faces the beach and is a lovely place to be. It has three well furnished terraces, one of which is heated in the evenings, as well a plenty of indoor eating spaces, and this combined with the excellent food and the well stocked bar is a perfect way to relax and spend your holiday. There are planned activities sometimes for your entertainment, which are great fun. If you want accommodation, the beds are comfortable and the bedrooms are well cared for. The breakfast is personally served. The staff bend over backwards to give personal care to both residents and regulars. Whilst I was there, a private party hired one of the restaurant areas and everyone seemed to be having a great time. I write this without prejudice, and would highly recommend this as a first class place to stay in Shanklin. Thank you Catherine and David for a lovely relaxing time."

"We stayed at the Waterfront Inn at the beginning of October and were made very welcome. The staff were very helpful and flexible in what we required to eat. The food was excellent. The accommodation was excellent with a good view over the sea to the East, to catch the sunrise. Thank you Catherine, David & all the staff for our enjoyable stay."

"Would like to say a big thank you to David; we've been made so welcome here and the meals are brilliant - I will be returning. Fantastic break."

"We were visiting the island for my parents 40th wedding anniversary. Having looked on the internet not knowing the island The Waterfront had excellent reviews, so i booked over the phone for our celebration. We had the most wonderful evening, we were welcomed by Adam who let us know all the menu choices that evening, he was well informed and welcoming. The Set menu provided excellent value for money, as did the 2 steaks for £25 with bottle of wine. The food is restaurant standard and wonderful. To end the meal i would recommend Adams calypso coffee divine. All staff made fuss of us and my parents, we enjoyed our exprience so much we returned later in the week. Food and standards still the same. Wish this place was near to our home as would eat there all the time. Well done to all for your efforts and thanks for making our visit to Shanklin so wonderful. Hope to see you all again."

"We stayed at Waterfront in October 2010. It was a wonderful stay. Food was excellent and the owners & staff very friendly and helpful. We are returning this year 2011. Sorry for late post just found this section on the web site. Raymond & Elva Bradley, North Cheam Surrey"

"We visited your restaurant on 3 nights this week, from 15th May. It was a pleasurable experience and i would like to congratulate you on the staff you have recruited; they are very customer orientated and informative. I was shown the accomodation as we come to the island on a fairly regular basis and the standard is comparable with our present accomodation except that you are on the sea fromt and those beautiful 'close by' sea views. We have introduced our local friends who were very impressed and will very likely come and see you themselves. Sharon, Ben Sam Aaron and not forgetting you David were all a breath of fresh air in a climate where customer service is well down the list of priorities."
(Madeln & Syd Devon, 18 May 2011)

"The best customer service I have experienced on Eco island in 20 years - the staff were friendly / efficient / informative and very helpful - I used to lecture on customer service all round the world and u get to know when something is right - here it definitely is - I would recommend the Waterfront to anyone visiting the Island and we will very definitely BE BACK !! "
(David Green, 08 May 2011)

"Lunch at the Waterfront Inn was the best lunchtime experience that my wife and I have had for a long time. Much cleaner, friendlier and tasty than its near neighbours at an extremely competitive price. As a bonus the view is pretty good as well."
(DAVE DAVIES, 08 May 2011)

"The best cream tea we have had on the isle of wight! And we live here!! With a very pleasant environment as well. Well done !"

"Had a wonderful 2 course meal served by a very Polite and Charming Sharon and will certainly be coming back again for more of your delightful food and service."
(John Furmidge, 24 Mar 2011)

"We did not stay at The Waterfront Inn (we wish we had!) but did eat there every evening during our long weekend stay in Bonchurch. The meals we had were delightful and we were spoilt for choice. David made us feel very welcome and always had time for a chat. We witnessed the Moon at its largest one night and that made our evening. If you are not staying at the Inn, we suggest you eat there....you will not be disappointed. Thank you David for your company, Nev and Jean"
(Nev & Jean Duckworth, 22 Mar 2011)

"We moved to the island in October last year and came into the Waterfront Inn where we received such a warm welcome from both the proprietors and staff. We highly recommend this establishment for just a drink or better still try one of their delicious meals. They also have lots of entertainment and party nights which are really good fun. Well done to all concerned and keep up the good work. Whether it's David, Catherine, Sharon, Sam or Adam that serve you - all are so friendly and make you very welcome."
(Melvyn Daniel, 11 Mar 2011)

"Had another meal in Waterfront Inn Shankin, food just as good as last time and the staff (i.e. owners) are so much more welcoming than the Steamer which is next door. Will certainly eat here again in preference to the Steamer."
(Derek Atkins, 17 Feb 2011)

"It was an excellent experience at the hotel with breath taking views. Lovely couple with a great welcome and an excellent breakfast. Will definitely come back and would recommend everyone to visit this place."
